Common questions

Is this the official AFCD exam?

No — this is a free self-assessment built from the published AFCD Large Dog Exemption Exam criteria, so you can see where your dog stands before booking the real thing. The official exam is run by the AFCD (pets.gov.hk).

Which dogs need the exemption?

In Hong Kong a large dog must normally be kept on a lead in public. Passing the exemption exam lets it walk off-lead legally in approved areas.

Should someone else hold the lead while I score?

Yes. The real exam is run by an unfamiliar handler with you out of the room, so score your dog as it behaves for a stranger, not for you — that gives you the honest picture.

My dog didn't pass this assessment — what now?

That's exactly what it's for: each gap lists the target to reach. If you'd like help preparing, WhatsApp me — I train on the routes you actually walk, and if your dog doesn't pass the real exam we keep training at 25% off until they do.
